sweet flower girl

I realized this week (just a little late!) that I have been remiss in sharing with you both the photos and story of Shiloh being a flower girl for the first time! I must forewarn you that most of my photos didn't turn out of very good quality and were a bit blurry, but I'll try to link to a few from the wedding photographer as well.

Cutie pie

First, the story... all 3 of us had been very sick the week(s) leading up to the wedding. It was definitely some sort of the flu with the added bonus of stomach issues (fun times, let me tell you!). We were MISERABLE with this sickness and could not get it out of our house... we kept getting reinfected somehow, despite the entire cans of Lysol I would go through! Anyway, Shiloh had been vomiting the day before and MORNING OF the wedding. I was beside myself with worry that she would not be able to make it to the wedding at all... which wouldn't have been terrible if the bride's mom had not sewn her dress from scratch! So Nick brought her to the wedding and she did okay for a while (she even acts a little silly in some of the photos I took, as you'll see), but about 30 minutes before the ceremony she started feeling AWFUL, and acting the same as she had been right before she would vomit... so we are lining up for the procession and Nick is holding her as she is moaning and crying... she wouldn't even TOUCH her flower ball because it was a little wet and made her gag. All the while, I am making myself physically ill by worrying whether or not she is going to throw up on herself walking down the aisle! How horrible would that be?!?

So I, being one of the bridesmaids, walk up to the front and wait in agony. She was supposed to walk down the aisle with the ring bearer, who was older and could hold her hand. However, I saw him appear from my angled view of the aisle and she was not with him! My heart sank. Then, a moment later, he turns around to look at something... and lo and behold, my daughter comes toddling down the aisle, holding her flower ball, just strolling along taking her sweet time and looking around at everyone. I have never been so proud in all my life!!! She walks straight up to the groom and smiles, kind of looking at him like, "Okay, what do I do now?" and he directs her to me. I pick her up and hug and kiss her and tell her how proud Mommy is of her and do the hand-off to Nick.... I'm telling you, I almost cried!... and Nick takes her out of sanctuary... and she throws up. Talk about divine timing!
But she did it! She felt miserable and nauseated but she sucked it up and held her flower ball and walked down the aisle as the cutest little flower girl ever!

Here are a few links of photos taken of Shi by the wedding photographer, which kind of gives you the snapshots of how it all played out:
