This was my first attempt at making a roast in the crock pot. Although it isn't a super photo, it is definitely a super easy and yummy recipe! Once again, I found it here.
Three Envelope Roast:
3 pound beef roast (such as chuck roast)
1 envelope of dry Italian salad dressing mix
1 envelope of dry ranch salad dressing mix
1 envelope of dry brown gravy mix
2 cups water
Put the water in a measuring cup that is larger then the amount of water you are using. Now add and mix all three envelopes of dry salad dressings to the water. Mix until blended completely. Brown the roast (if desired). Add the meat to your cooker. Pour the water, salad dressing mixture over the roast. In the slow cooker cook it on high for about 4 hours on low about 8 hours.
My opinion: Definitely brown the roast, after seasoning it with pepper and garlic salt. This really helps seal in the flavor. The broth also makes a delicious gravy if you add a thickening slurry of 2 tbsp flour/2 tbsp water and a bouillon cube. Choose to cook it on low rather than high if you have the time.
The real evidence was what our toughest critic thought of her helping:

She gobbled down her first bowl before coming up for air long enough to request, "Mo' tatos and davey peez!"
